A Little About Joanna

My name is Joanna, or “Miss J” to the cool kids. I have served diverse populations in varying capacities over the course of my career in social work and have realized that I enjoy doing therapy most of all. I consider it a privilege when clients share their vulnerability with me, being able to support them as they navigate their suffering and summon courage to forge a new path for themselves. I seek to help people process their feelings and experiences and work with them to identify what they need to create positive changes in their lives. I believe therapy should be tailored to the needs of each individual person. I also understand that people’s problems are often multifaceted and try to recognize the needs of the whole person or family, rather than just treating mental health as an isolated issue.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work from Avila University, and after living overseas for a few years, I obtained my Master of Social Work from Arizona State University. I have experience working with children in residential psychiatric treatment, homeless Veterans, families impacted by substance abuse, domestic violence survivors, seniors in skilled nursing care or on hospice and  served clients of all ages and backgrounds as a therapist in a community mental health center. I enjoy using a variety of therapy interventions and psychoeducation to assist clients with understanding and addressing their mental health, improving the quality of their lives and fostering healthy relationships with others.

I look forward to working with you at our Greenwood, Missouri Location for both in person and telehealth services!
