A Note From Malissa

Hello friends! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself a bit. I graduated from The University of Central Missouri in 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology; a Minor in Child and Family Development; and a Minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality. In 2021 I earned my Master’s of Science in Human Development and Family Science; with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy also at UCM. Additionally, I have spent the past several years working on research regarding suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. Currently, I am pursuing my provisional licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I love working with a variety of clients and presenting problems. I have a special passion for working with couples, clients experiencing issues related to sex (sexual dysfunction, sexual trauma, etc.), and the LGBTQ+ population. I view things through a systemic lens, which looks at the individual person as well as how they relate to the bigger systems around them. I tend to emphasize the importance of self-worth, communication, and boundaries.

I believe therapy should be one place where you feel unconditionally welcomed and accepted. It is a place where you are safe to learn about yourself, explore your personal goals, and develop into the person you want to be. We all struggle and need extra help at times. I will work collaboratively with you to reach your goals; whether that be overcoming trauma, communicating more effectively with each other, easing anxiety or depression, or any other area you hope to grow. Every person has unique experiences and perspectives that make up their story. I hope I get to hear your story. Until then, know that you are unique, you are important, you are loved, and you are valued!
