Consensual Non-Monogamy Therapy & Inclusive Counseling

At The Wellness Counseling Center, our clients, team members, and communities trust us to create a safe space where every relationship is welcome. We believe love and connection look different for everyone—and your relationship structure deserves the same compassion, respect, and care as any other.

That’s why we offer Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) therapy—a space where individuals, couples, and families in open relationships, polyamory, or other non-traditional partnerships can explore challenges, strengthen communication, and nurture connection.

What Is Consensual Non-Monogamy?

Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) is any relationship style where partners agree to engage in more than one romantic or sexual relationship with honesty, communication, and consent. This may include:

  • Polyamory – Loving multiple partners openly and ethically
  • Open relationships – Exploring connections outside of a primary partnership
  • Relationship anarchy or non-traditional partnerships – Building flexible, customized relationship structures

Our therapists recognize the beauty and complexity of CNM. We provide CNM-affirming counseling so you can feel supported, understood, and respected.

Why CNM-Affirming Therapy Matters

Many clients in non-monogamous relationships struggle to find therapists who understand and affirm their relationship structure. Traditional therapy approaches may overlook the strengths of CNM or frame it as a “problem.”

Our approach is different. We provide inclusive, affirming therapy that honors your identity, values, and choices. We work with you to build communication, strengthen trust, and navigate challenges with compassion.

Common Challenges Therapy Can Help With

CNM counseling can be a safe place to explore and grow in areas such as:

  • Communication and boundaries: Clarifying needs, agreements, and expectations.
  • Managing jealousy and trust: Developing strategies for emotional regulation and security.
  • Family and parenting dynamics: Supporting children, co-parents, or chosen family systems.
  • Identity exploration: Honoring the intersections of CNM with LGBTQIA+, cultural, or spiritual identities.
  • Relationship transitions: Navigating new partners, shifting structures, or redefining commitments.
  • Conflict resolution: Transforming tension into meaningful dialogue and solutions.

Our Inclusive, Whole-Person Approach

At The Wellness Counseling Center, we don’t just focus on symptoms or surface issues. We look for the story within the story—the deeper narratives that shape your relationships and sense of self.

Our diverse group of therapists brings both professional expertise and cultural humility, offering a safe, judgment-free environment where CNM clients can explore, grow, and thrive. Guided by the eight dimensions of wellness, we integrate emotional, social, spiritual, and relational wellbeing into our work.

We are here to educate, inform, and empower with compassion, grace, kindness, and joy—because your relationships matter, and your story deserves to be honored.
