EMDR Therapy for Trauma, PTSD, and Healing

At The Wellness Counseling Center, our clients, team members, and communities trust us to provide a safe space where healing is possible. Our diverse team of therapists uses EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help individuals reprocess painful experiences, reduce emotional distress, and move toward long-term well-being.

We believe that recovery is not about erasing your past, but about reshaping the way it lives inside of you. EMDR provides an evidence-based, compassionate path toward that healing.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy designed to help people heal from trauma and distress caused by difficult life experiences.

Research has shown that EMDR counseling often helps people achieve results in a shorter time compared to traditional talk therapy. Just as the body naturally works to heal a physical wound, the mind can heal from emotional injuries when barriers are removed. EMDR therapy helps identify and reprocess these “blocks,” allowing natural healing to resume.

How EMDR Counseling Works

During an EMDR therapy session, a trained therapist guides you through a structured process that includes recalling distressing memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, taps, or sounds).

This process helps “reprogram” the way memories are stored, reducing the intensity of emotional pain and allowing healthier perspectives to take root.

Clients often report feeling less “stuck” in their trauma and more able to move forward with resilience and clarity.

What EMDR Therapy Can Help With

Our EMDR-trained therapists use this approach to address a variety of concerns, including:

  • PTSD and trauma recovery
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression and mood-related challenges
  • Grief and loss
  • Childhood trauma and abuse
  • Phobias and fears
  • Relationship stress and attachment wounds

EMDR therapy is effective for both single-event traumas (such as accidents or natural disasters) and complex trauma (such as repeated abuse, neglect, or prolonged stress).

Our Inclusive, Whole-Person Approach

At The Wellness Counseling Center, we look for the story within the story. We believe that your lived experiences are important, but they don’t have to define your future.

Several of our therapists have specialized training in EMDR trauma therapy and integrate it with other evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. This ensures that every client receives care tailored to their needs, identity, and goals.

Our mission is to educate, inform, and empower with compassion, grace, kindness, and joy—so you can heal in a way that feels safe, meaningful, and sustainable.
