A Little About Cindy

Ms. Cindy Janczewski joins us with thirty years of experience in mental health.  She first began with Crittenton and Shawnee Mission Medical Center working acute care on the psychiatric floors.  She has more than 20 years experience in crisis, family preservation, and Family Reunion Services (FRS), including Intensive In-Home Services (IIS).  She has trained workers hired for IIS and FRS hired in the State of Missouri.  She and her husband also parented children in the foster care system for four years.

Recently, Ms. Janczewski has worked with Mental Health Court coordinating services for participants and working with the courts to assist with their diversion efforts.  Mental Health Court assists people with mental health problems and substance abuse problems that have led to legal charges.

Ms. Janczewski offers trauma-informed care working with blended families, substance abuse, foster care, crisis, family reunification, behavioral and emotional problems, divorced families, co-parenting and hostile co-parenting situations, and domestic mediation.

She uses the following models for care: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Marriage and Family Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Domestic Mediation.

Ms. Janczewski has her Masters in Counseling from Webster University.  She is currently working toward her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification through Heartland Play Therapy.  She is part of a Jackson County Cohort to learn and implement Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).  She has completed Civil and Domestic Relations Mediation Training (2018) at the Center for Conflict Resolution.  She has received Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) through the Kansas City Police Department.  Finally, she has completed the Darkness to Light Sexual Abuse Prevention training.

Ms. Janczewki and her husband have seven children, all of which are adults now.  She has one grandson and another on the way!  She loves animals and has two dogs, a German Shepherd and another blended breed.  She was born and raised in Lee’s Summit and still lives there!  Her favorite place to visit – “Any beach!!!”
