Connie Kenyon, LPC, RPT-S

Counseling, Therapy, Play Therapy, Near Me, Harrisonville, Missouri

Ms. Connie Kenyon comes to The Wellness Counseling Center, LLC with a wealth of experience working with people. She has worked in the school setting for 40 plus years as an Elementary Teacher, Special Education Teacher and Director, Director of Parents As Teachers, Middle School Counselor and Play Therapist. In 2004, she received her license as a Professional Counselor after experiencing the need for more wisdom in working with children and families.  In 2014, she received her certification in Play Therapy after realizing that many individuals, especially children, could not verbalize their needs, thoughts, feelings and emotions. She has been successful in bringing the school and families, with special needs children, together for the betterment of the child.

Ms. Kenyon has served the behavioral health community through many local institutions including Living Solutions Counseling, Hope House, Jackson County Courts, Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth and various school districts.

She focuses her counseling work on designing solutions that combine behavior and neuroscience to address the lifelong, negative effects of childhood adversity and developmental issues. She is zealous about helping people, especially those in need, to become their best authentic self and to enjoy the process along the way. She is passionate about Child Centered Play Therapy and especially sandtray play.  She has experienced success with sandtray play with every age and even with couples. With 80% of the population being visual learners, it makes sense that the end result of a sand tray session represents the persons views of themselves and others.  A picture (completed sandtray) is worth a thousand words.

Ms. Kenyon loves spending time with her family, especially her eleven grandchildren, digging around in the garden, reading (usually about counseling methods) and traveling.
